The art organization Kadromat was founded in 2017 in Zagreb. Kadromat’s mission is the production of audiovisual and multimedia works of uncompromising artistic expression, as well as research within the film art and production practice. Within Kadromat, Daria Blažević and Mate Ugrin work both as a production team and as directors of their respective film projects.

Daria Blažević is the founder and artistic director of Kadromat. She completed her undergraduate studies in Film and Television Directing at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb and her graduate studies in Directing at the Film Academy in Vienna. She is a member of Kinoklub Zagreb, where she has been the president since 2022. She is also a member of the Croatian Association of Independent Artists and the Croatian Directors’ Guild, where she serves as the chair of the Committee for Copyright. She is currently in pre-production for her short fiction film “Lessons”, and is developing the screenplay for her debut feature film “Swamp”. She has written and directed several short fiction films that have been screened at European and international festivals, including Zagreb Film Festival, FEKK Ljubljana Short Film Festival, International Festival of Cinema with Alternative Media FICMA (Mexico), Mediterranean Film Festival Split, Mediterranean Film Festival in Tangier (Morocco), Alexandria Film Festival (Egypt), Sarajevo Film Festival (BiH), UNICA Festival, Tabor Film Festival, and others.

Mate Ugrin graduated in Film Directing from the Academy of Arts in Belgrade, then completed a master’s program at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg (HFBK Hamburg) as a recipient of the Karl H. Ditze Foundation scholarship. He also completed master’s studies in Art and Media at the University of the Arts in Berlin (UdK Berlin) as a recipient of the A. Toepfer Foundation scholarship. As a director, screenwriter, and producer, he has worked on several short films, including “Recent Places” (2016) and “Meanwhile” (2017), which premiered at the Hamburg International Short Film Festival and won an award from the FIRST STEPS German Film Academy. His new film “Everything Ahead” (2021) premiered at the Sarajevo Film Festival, where it won the Heart of Sarajevo for Best Short Film. As a director, screenwriter, and producer, he is currently in pre-production for his debut feature film “Petty Thieves” and a short experimental film titled “Bleaching.”
